Katwana

Our 21 year old Birman, Katwana, is now very poorly. Up until yesterday she was arthritic, deaf and pretty blind. The last 24 hours have seen a suprising deterioration in her health. She is curled up under the kitchen table, where it is warm, but it now seems that her days are numbered. Even her miaows are quieter. She has food and water near her and certainly doesn't seem to be in any pain, but we are watching her carefully, and wondering.

Katwana, an ailing faithful friend; and now Cecilia, with the promise of a new life...

UPDATE: FEBRUARY 23, 2006

Katwana died in her sleep this morning. My two sons helped me bury her in the garden, near where we buried her sister Kashka a few years back. We said a few words of thanks for the joy she brought us, and laid some flowers. Rest in Peace, Katwana.

Thanks Sylvie - I really appreciate your thoughts. Thank you. Katwana is hanging in and we are trying to make her final journey as stress free as possible. She is now asleep on our bed, looking warm and comfortable - but she hasn't eaten much for a few days now :-(

Was so sad to hear about katwana, was the end of an era for us all. I still remember my lump in my throat when i saw her last. Katwana represented my years of youth, being the little neighbour downstairs, making a cardboard house for her on the day she was a kitten for her and her sister... Inspiring the "Kittens Book" weekly comic book i enjoyed posting at your mailbox, and the years Nick & Andy were my other younger family upstairs. Nick was the cool older guy with all his toys, his Commodore 64, with his hilarious views and comic relief advices, and andrea with her wisdom, and unforgettable laugh with her face turning red. And of course the two cats that made door 55 what is became, an era of innocence. Farewale Katwana, I'm happy i saw you one last time. Welcome Cecilia, the new cat of door 55, take good care of Nick and andy! :)
